THE MYSTERY

Begin with the voice, then start to sway
Sing for Cindy's town
I hear she's got herself a job
I hear it makes her feel sound
You can tell her mind's adrift
But memory's just a well
She drops her bucket down sometimes
Brings it up to show, not tell

This is what's meant to be
But I wanna solve the mystery

She turns her chair, she walks a bit
The town is turning gray
I think I met her once, it starts to click
I think I know what she is, I think I pushed that away
I will play a song for her
And all she represents
What you are, what you are, what you are
What you are
I play it on my guitar

This is what's meant to be
But I wanna solve the mystery

I'm booked for a few more weeks,
Those weeks turn to months, turn to years
I'm a little bit beat down

Lost a bit in the blackjack game, lost a bit in the empty eyes
A stranger passes, I see her mom, I see she's told some lies
Give my best to the old gang, tell them I'm still okay
It's funny how you seem to stop
When nothing's in the way

This is what's meant to be
But I wanna solve the mystery
This is what's meant to be
But I wanna solve the mystery
This is what's meant to be
But I wanna solve the mystery

WE CAN GO TOGETHER

Look out at the day, it gets away
It's just a series
I think I'll stay
And wait for the day when gone are the worries

Take my hand, when feel down
And I'll walk with you
We can go together
Because the day will come
When I need someone
We can go together

Dry all of your tears
Look at the day, it can be new again
Cry not for the pain
But for all the joy, you can find it in friends

Take my hand, when feel down
And I'll walk with you
We can go together
Because the day will come
When I need someone
We can go together

When you need someone
To help with the work
You can't do on your own
Let me know you need help
From someone else
I'll be there, you're not alone

Give me a shout, I'll come one out
We can go together
You're not the only one who needs help
We can go together

Take my hand, when feel down
And I'll walk with you
We can go together
Because the day will come
When I need someone
We can go together

THE WORK

She cleaned the house for five hours
She scrubbed the floor
She did the dishes and cleaned the stairs
She polished the knobs on the doors
It's hard work, it's hard
Don't take it for granted no more

Hour after hour, we're doin' the work
It don't get done unless someone steps up
Hour after hour, we're doing the work
You kept wishin' it would go away
But you have to do the work each day

He takes the garbage out and milks the cow
He polishes the silver spoon
He does the marketing every Saturday
He washes the car 'neath the light of the moon
He wished for secrets to be answered
And for someone to help out
But work needs to be done, up comes the sun
The work is what life's about

Hour after hour, we're doin' the work
It don't get done, unless someone steps up
Hour after hour, we're doing the work
You kept wishin' it would go away
But you have to do the work each day

WALK WITH ME

When you're tired and cold
At the end of the day
And the week seems so heavy in front of you
Don't hesitate to call on me
I will do my best to comfort you

And baby, baby, walk with me, walk with me, walk with me

When you're sad and blue
And the world's a shady hue
And their backs all seem to turn on you
I will be right here, so have no fear
I will help you onto your feet so you can move

And baby, baby, walk with me, walk with me, walk with me

DESTINATION

Here we go again,
With the right walk, and the right words
For all of those who wanted to be strong
And here we go again
We wonder, what could be the best way
To move this night along

Look at all the highway signs
All the lovers drive in line
And they say
We're dy-dy-dyin' today
They say
We're try-try-tryin' to pay
The dues we feel we owe and maybe someday
We'll reach the destination

Look at all the highway signs
All the lovers drive in line
And they say
We're dy-dy-dyin' today
They say
We're try-try-tryin' to pay
The dues we feel we owe and maybe someday
We'll reach the destination
The destination
The destination
The destination

SWAY

Each time I wake up I don't know
How to deal with adversity
So, I look at the ways to grow
I see you lookin' at me
I think I can be free

Take me to where all the green grass grows
I wanna be where the wind blows
There I'll stay, I just want to sway
I wanna be where the green grass grows
I wanna be where the wind blows
There I'll stay, I just want to sway

Lookin' for ways to find a direction
Lookin' for eyes that can help me see
Lookin' for people to share the time with
I see you lookin' at me
I think I can be free

Take me to where all the green grass grows
I wanna be where the wind blows
There I'll stay, I just want to sway
I wanna be where the green grass grows
I wanna be where the wind blows
There I'll stay, I just want to sway

In this lonely time
We can find a place to rest
We can make the climb
We can do our best

I appreciate all you've done for me
I appreciate what you've done for the world
The smile, the laughter, and the joy
Now here we go
It's time to float, float on

Take me to where all the green grass grows
I wanna be where the wind blows
There I'll stay, I just want to sway
I wanna be where the green grass grows
I wanna be where the wind blows
There I'll stay, I just want to sway

CAN YOU SEE THE SUN?

It was whispered once to me that one day you will be free
It's true, the clouds will part again
In the hour when loops are closed, the baby bud becomes a rose
It's true, you will see it bursting

Tell me now, can you see the sun?
Tell me now, can you see the sun?
Through the trees, through the storm

Every day that I recall, the rain was like a wonderwall
It's true, sometimes the light comes creepin' through
Every day until the end, the rain will fall and fall again
It's true, but it starts the world anew

Tell me now, can you see the sun?
Tell me now, can you see the sun?
Through the trees, through the storm

Tell me now, can you see the sun?
Tell me now, can you see the sun?
Through the trees, through the storm

WORTH WAITING FOR

Someone wrote something on a piece of paper
It was like a letter from someone I'd never met
It said you shouldn't think of everything you might lose
You should think of everything you might get

It talked of a love affair, where two lovers snuck away
They made a place to meet but they were reckless
They hoped to fall in love over and over, day after day
There was a book and an idea of tenderness, it said:

If you arrive early
Please wait
I might not be on time
But I still need the date
It's hard to depend
On people who let you down
Especially when so many people
Are just runnin' around
But trust me that I'll end up in your arms again
So please wait for me
Your love is worth waiting for

I was reading a letter the things were all scrawled out
It seems that it was crossed out with red lines,
But the message came through what was
I could see it had been crumpled a few times, it said:

If you arrive early
Please wait
I might not be on time
But I still need the date
It's hard to depend
On people who let you down
Especially when so many people
Are just runnin' around
But trust me that I'll end up in your arms again
So please wait for me
Your love is worth waiting for

For some reason I was in the doorway
There was a baptism
A man was crying who was not used to cryin'
What was the reason?
We can't recall
But the letter was still posted on his wall

I AM HOME

Destination snowcapped mountain
Washington, by the trees and the river
We can walk along the trail to the sky
We can reach the summit if we try

From the hills to the valley
From my heart to the sky
Feel the sun on my face
I am home, I am home

Photographs in the passenger's seat
I was standing by a crashing waterfall
Park the truck below and I can taste
The whiskey as I take a drink of it all

From the hills to the valley
From my heart to the sky
Feel the sun on my face
I am home, I am home

Did the mountain call my name?
I think I hear her singin' to me
The song is playin' on the radio
I think that I might go far away
Back to from where I came

From the hills to the valley
From my heart to the sky
Feel the sun on my face
I am home, I am home

THIS IS LIFE

Paul worked with widgets at the brokerage house
Mary worked the toll booth by the bridge, book in hand
He put a ring on her finger after they fell in love
After they wed they danced to their favorite band

Hey-ha-hey, Hey-ha-hey, this is life, Olay
Da-da-da, this is life
Hey-ha-hey, Hey-ha-hey, this is life, Olay
Da-da-da, this is life

Paul was pushin'
Pushin' for some real estate
Mary was working
Workin' by the Golden Gate

Hey-ha-hey, Hey-ha-hey, this is life, Olay
Da-da-da, this is life
Hey-ha-hey, Hey-ha-hey, this is life, Olay
Da-da-da, this is life

Time rolls on and they had a few kids
The story sounds familiar
They want to be something new
But they want to be part of the chain

Paul keeps making widgets
And Mary retires
Paul keeps on sweatin' out
Mary burns the home fires
The sun keeps rising
And the kids keep growing up
And all the things they dreamed of
Are coming true

Hey-ha-hey, Hey-ha-hey, this is life, Olay
Da-da-da, this is life
Hey-ha-hey, Hey-ha-hey, this is life, Olay
Da-da-da, this is life
